Player vs Player Roleplay rules
Player vs Player RP is approached a little bit differently than any other sort of RP on the server. It's treated more as an actual game than anything else- competing for territory, resources, and most of all expanding the universe through conflict and bloodshed. These rules are primarily focused upon providing a balanced and fun roleplaying experience for those of you who enjoy tearing into each other.
First let's get into the things that make PVP characters different. There are two basic things, firstly as a PVP character you must have the /PVP mode on at all times. Don't worry about team-killing, Starbounds' party system makes that impossible fortunately enough. Secondly- all PVP characters are built on Perma-death mode. This makes PVP in Federation RP extremely dangerous but also quite rewarding as you become the greatest soldier, bounty hunter or pirate the galaxy's ever seen...on the back of your enemies' cold descicated corpses.
The moment ANYONE enters a Warzone they MUST be flagged for /pvp. Admins will teleport violators to other parts of the universe in the event that this rule is broken. Successive violations will result in a kick. PVE characters are- unless in the event of Admin Permission- Forbidden from entering Warzones and fighting.
A Warzone becomes a warzone at the lore adjudiciators' word. However the majority of residents in the system MUST agree to the ruling, as it is their land and their characters that's about to get torn apart. Warzones will cease to be Warzones when one of three criteria is met.
1. One or both factions pull out.
2. An in-character truce is negotiated
3. The Star System is considered "Dead" and simply turns to Lawlessness. Fighting may continue however it is thought that both factions have pulled the majority of their forces to other fronts.
Lawless sectors- unlike Warzones are where PVP characters can continue fighting, however rules for Griefing are enforced. This means no destruction of buildings or theft without out of character permission. This is generally meant to signify places where the law is very weak or non-existant, think the American Old-west as far as feeling goes. Therefore these are the perfect places to have your cops vs robbers RPs or gang-warfare sorts of things. All Lawless sectors are placed in the coords section.
Moreso- PVE characters must also have admin permission, however the admins are more likely to be lax as far as your entry is concerned so long as your character is going there to propel a plot forward rather than to partake in PVP for the sake of it. You must have the /pvp flag on at all times, violators will be teleported to another part of the universe- repeat violators will be kicked.
PVP factions are the life-blood of the PVP RP scene. These are the organizations that justify all RP and conflicts within the warzones and lawless sectors. A PVP faction- like other factions- must have a bio and be approved by an admin before they may be used. See the bio board for more details on this. All characters within a PVP faction are subject to PVP character rules, there are no exceptions to this rule.

Warzones and how they work.
However- There are only certain sectors of the galaxy- where the normal laws and regulations do not apply. These are called "Warzones." Warzones are entire star-systems that have fallen to the chaotic engines of war. The Coord section will have lists of known War-zones and their coordinates. Generally a system will become a warzone when two NPC Empires- or two player factions of significant size clash for control of the sector. Here the standard rules for griefing no longer apply, and there are no rules for conflict here. There is no fair play and there is no limit to how bad the conflict can get.The moment ANYONE enters a Warzone they MUST be flagged for /pvp.
