The following is a complete breakdown of all rules and policies implemented by staff, this section MUST be read before one may RP.
Respect is perhaps the most important part of the roleplay here. This community consists of varying age groups and backgrounds and as a result any display of hate or disrespect designed to alienate or offend will result in severe punishment. This includes a temporary or permanent ban. Such statements may include derogatory statements of an offensive or slanderous nature targeted against Race, Gender, Sexual orientation, disability and religious or political persuasion. These are not tolerated on all monitored channels, and if an attack happens on a private channel it is up to the victim to come to an admin- PRIVATELY about it.
We require respect for the authority of the administrators from all participants. Administrators have been entrusted to enforce the rules of both the server and the forums. This also applies to those of equal rank, if an admin is seen in violation of any rules another admin will be permitted to take disciplinary action. When a conflict of opinion occurs in regards to a violated rule or forms of discipline used the matter is to be taken to the head admin so a decision may be made to resolve the issue.
Please note that neither the forums or the server are the place for personal disputes. If you have a problem with the conduct of another player please take it to private messaging. Any discussion of these issues on the server or forums will be met with a kick or deletion of all related posts. Distribution of private or unrelated material for malicious intent- which includes chat logs, images, videos, etc that target guests or other members of the community will be met with a ban and- in the case of an admin- immediate revocation of power and dismissal from all admin duties. If a dispute that effects the community in any way arises it is to be taken to the admins so that it may be handled privately.

Server Conduct
Every aspect of the Federation roleplay experience is dedicated toward helping all players feel immersed within the roleplay universe. As a result in-game out of character speak is to be used for out of character clarification or organization only. If you wish to talk out of character about anything else please utilize the out of character section on the forums or third party chat software.
The following is the format in which RP is conveyed in game.

*Actions*
Expressed with asterisks bracketing the statement actions express all present-tense actions that cannot be expressed in game.
(Out of character)
Out of character is expressed with (single paranthesis). OOC chat is to be used sparingly and only when absolutely necessary. Private message are a preferable alternative to public OOC.
[Comm]
Used to convey communications to other characters in RP, to send a comm message one must merely put the [comm] in front of any statement made. Please note however that all Comms are open and therefore anyone and everyone can hear what your characters are saying to one-another.
Private Comms/OOC
Achieved using the /w [playername] command. OOC is to be utilized in the same respect. However due to a current bug with Starbound character names with spaces in them DO NOT work with the whisper feature. Keep this in mind when making your character. In the event that this poses a problem you may use a third party chat software to attribute the same result.

Server Realism
As Starbound was not actually designed for roleplay- certain mechanics in game may conflict with the mechanics of the RP. However this code should assist in providing a realistic and acceptable in-universe experience within the Starbound universe. All in-character(or IC) interaction should be suitable for the setting, including background, origins, species, actions, personality and appearances.
Do not disconnect in view of other players if you can help it. Excuse yourself from the room and put yourself out of view if possible to avoid breaking immersion. If you intend on going away from keyboard try and put your character someplace where they would not be disturbed or out of sight. This includes sleeping in beds, sitting at workstations, or even going to the bathroom.
In-game names are not to be acknowledged until the characters have introduced themselves to one-another. The names above players in an out of character feature are not to be acknowledge through Roleplay.
Please try and have your character walk whenever possible(Achieved by default by holding the shift key while moving) as running everywhere would- realistically- tire any living creature out and be dangerous for others. Although this rule is more of a guideline and should not be used to inhibit roleplay.
Meta-gaming and god modding are not tollerated and negatively impact the role-playing experience. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Avoiding Metagaming
Simply put- it is considered meta-gaming when your character would not realistically have line-of-sight with another character to see what they're doing, or in the case of dialog- if you cannot see the text balloon over the other characters' head when they speak. However public use of the [comm] allows anyone and everyone to hear as it is a public channel.
This includes- out of character destroying houses, stealing from other players' storange containers and generally being a nuisance for no other reason than to be a pest. This is not to say that it cannot happen in character, however in RP one MUST ask permission before doing so. Neglecting to ask permission or griefing anyway after denial will result in a permanent irreversable ban.

The most important Server-Rule of all: NO GRIEFING
