HISTORY
The galaxy has many a strange creature hidden in the deep black void. But the Novakids take the cake on the level of strangeness. They were born in the heart of a dying star- a star that could think and feel the same as you and me. It didn't want to die, it didn't want to let go of its' mortal coil...so it did what any living creature would do, it fought. It fought so hard, and so fiercely to hang on to what was left of its' life. It discovered a means of moving from place to place, how it did this nobody knows to this day.
It consumed other stars, cannibalizing them for energy it desperately needed...it was so hungry, all the time...with every solar body it consumed it required more and more energy, as it burned so bright and so fast. Then...as it consumed the sun of a small moon- it noticed something, something that it didn't know existed in the universe...other life. It found the Kidicara, a primitive sentient species on that small backwater moon...a species that The Star had just seen to the doom of.
Now say what you want about it, whether what it was doing was right or wrong to that point...but the Star sure as hell wasn't a monster- far far from the truth. It saw what it had done, and began to regret...began to feel a pain unlike anything it had felt before- true, honest, regret. The star then saw what it had become, and allowed itself to die. However through its' death it granted the Kiddicara a chance at life- infusing its' power, its' magesty and its' very being with the members of the Kiddicara. They became the first Novakids, and whether they knew it or not...they would not waste the new life given to them by their progenitor.
BIOLOGY AND CHARACTERISTICS
Biology...isn't the right word when referring to the Novakids. They're a living collection of burning gasses suspended within a hardened metal shell, the source of their power coming directly from the brand on their "faces". They're quite intelligent and intuitive compared to others in the universe...however they're lacking in the ability to pay attention to things. A Novakid is bored easily, and generally it makes talking to them frustrating at best, downright insulting at worst.
Strangely enough- about three hundred years ago they started to model their society after "the old west"...a time period in human history. All attempts at looking into the reasoning have been met with a firm "I dunno" from most Novakids that're asked. Though the reining theory is that they accidentally picked up signals from an old form of entertainment humanity enjoyed and took a liking to it.
Novakids within the Federation
The thing about The Novakids that you can't doubt is that once you've got their attention and have earned their loyalty, they'll fight alongside you til' the sky goes cold and the worlds are dark. This is one of the Federations' greatest victories, when they won the loyalty of the entire Novakid people. The Apex MiniKnog saw an opportunity to better their understanding about alternate forms of life- so they did what they do and began their machinations.
The Glitch Empire had been attempting to expand its' borders for some time, having finally found a planet- or rather...small moon they wanted, they sent a peace collective with the intention of asking the Novakid if they could establish colonies on their homeworld. The Miniknog proceeded to put their pieces into place, capturing the Glitch Ambassador and re-writing her memory and instructions with the intention of sabotaging the peace process.
It worked, the Ambassadors' newfound agression to the Novakid and the Novakids' lack of patience for such proceedings came together...war ensued. The Glitch sent a combat collective to forcefully conquer their homeworld, while the Novakids prepared themselves for battle as well. The Novakids were outnumbered, but certainly not outgunned and they put up a hell of a fight.
When both the Glitch and the Novakids had been depleted, their fighting having torn both forces to their knees the Apex military started to swoop in...only to be stopped by a band of Conduit commandoes, backed up by their Avian and Human allies. The Federation told what remained of the Novakids and the Glitch collective, and showed that they had in fact been turned against one another by outside forces.
Due to their heroism the entirety of the Novakids' society and the battle collective of the Glitch joined the Federation, and many high-tailed it to Amerish as soon as they were able.
